Gawa's Objectives
GAWA’s PRIMARY OBJECTIVE
GAWA’s long-term objectives can be highlighted as follows:
- Be an agent of change that works together with Namibian companies and society as a whole; to continually learn (together) with the aim of developing ongoing green initiatives and climate change strategies.
- Create an environment of partnership which results in a commitment of all parties involved to reduce impact on the global environment through various programmes and initiatives.
The long-term vision is to assist all partners, corporations and Government institutions to reach a point where each is able to:
- Complete a corporate-wide inventory of their overall negative environmental impact activities, based on a quality management system;
- Set aggressive reduction goals;
- Annually report their progress to all stakeholders, including employees, shareholders, Government and the public;
- Gain internationally recognised accreditation for their endeavours;
-
Fashion an ENVIRONMENTAL EMPLOYMENT SECTOR which provides livelihoods to
unemployed Namibians throughout the country and across all employment sectors;
-
This new environmental employment sector will create jobs for unskilled, semi skilled, skilled and even specialist positions – the “green-collar” workforce.
